I am a 32 year old female so reading some of the comments from the older ladies doesn’t fill me with much confidence at all. My hip bursitis started after a very painful pregnancy a few years ago and was made worse after my latest pregnancy as the bursitis was missed. I have hip dysplasia which unfortunately had not been picked up until I met with my orthopedic surgeon a couple of months ago and he is brilliant! After years of being in pain and suffering terrible during the pregnancies I was referred to rheumatology, gynecology, spinal orthopedics then eventually hip orthopedics after the above failed to find a problem. The cause of my bursitis came from a very severe case of SPD (symphysis pubis dysfunction) during pregnancy and the pressure from my dislocated pelvis caused the inflammation resulting in GTD (gestational trophoblastic disease). Physiotherapy has failed to be much use although my physiotherapist has been with me since pregnancy and is amazing, so my hip surgeon suggested cortisone injections in both hips whilst under x-ray to ensure the injection hit the right spot. I’ve just had those injections and they were not as painful as I expected, they felt a little like an epidural needle, for those ladies who have ever had one of those. I’m hoping they work and I’ll be reviewed in 6 weeks in clinic. I feel having an experienced and sympathetic care provider is the first stage to getting the right treatment. If you’re not happy with the treatment you’re getting then demand a second opinion. It’s taken me 4 years now to finally get a diagnosis and treatment but it is out there! I’m looking forward to reading more of your experiences and I hope you all get some relief. I’ll keep you all posted on next stages of my treatment plan!

If stairs are detrimental to the healing process, I will not use them. Also please provide your thoughts on icing to manage the inflammation. Many thanks in advance for your reply.

Consider injections if recommended by your doc. There is an operation for GTB, but it’s still not guaranteed to relieve your pain totally and forever! And as I said, that’s assuming it’s GTB. Be sure before ever considering anything operative. Your doc would be the one to help you with that process.

I do have a specific problem and would like to know if I am the only one. I am in the second week of month 1 of Insanity. I do not follow the nutritional plan, I am trying to do my own healthy meal plan. The problem I am facing is that I am not able to eat the amount of calories I am suppoosed to. For example, I am supposed to eat around 1900 calories a day, but in the evening I still have 200-300 left. I eat often, small portions. I am just not hungry, do I need to force myself to eat all that calories to fulfill the needs of my body or is it ok to eat less?
Another thing that you might do is to keep your weight lifting as part of your routine, and do Insanity Workout videos every other day. No one says that the program “must” be done in 60 days. Everyone has different goals and if some are aiming for fat loss and looks, others are maybe striving for increased performance. I for one never stopped doing Insanity. Even after completing the Asylum, even after incorporating cycling and running into my schedule. I dedicate one day for this and the next for that.
