Muscle & Strength’s 12 Week Women’s Workout Program Research Reports A charming, well-produced video summary of why and how to build strength, pitched to the not-so-young-anymore, done by the University of BC (which is in my backyard). Emily Shiffer I'd like to receive the Arthritis Insights newsletter Living The shoulder is a closely fitted joint. The humerus (upper arm bone), certain tendons of the muscles that lift the arm, and associated bursa (fluid filled sac that cushions to prevent friction) move back and forth through a very tight archway of bone and ligament called the coracoacromia arch. When the arm is raised, the archway becomes smaller, pinches the tendons, and makes the tissue prone to inflammation. The condition, known as bursitis, occurs when the bursa becomes inflamed and painful as surrounding muscles move over it. The condition known as tendonitis occurs when the tendons or surrounding tissue becomes inflamed, swollen, and tender. Symptoms of these two conditions can last for only a few days but they may recur or become chronic, such as in my case.

Doctors, Nurses & More Researchers examined data collected from a case-control study that included almost 700 women with endometrial cancer and compared them to a similar number of age-matched control women. Those who exercised for 150 minutes a week or more had a 34 percent reduced risk of endometrial cancer.
Diet & Weight Management The goal of any frozen shoulder syndrome program is to get the shoulder warmed and moving again. The UW School of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine created a routine based on using the non-painful arm to help with stretching. As they explain:
Increase your efficiency and work your heart by doing alternating sets or circuits.
Higher levels of air pollution may be linked to higher risk of dementia. Sheesh. Sounds like a lot, but that’s because tote bags, over time, “may cause pressure on the nerves [in your arm], reduce circulation in the underlying muscles, or [lead to] muscle strain from sustained imbalanced resistance,” says Hayden. Which means that cute tote bag isn’t as innocent as you think.
Aerobic exercise has been linked to memory maintenance, so it's especially important for older adults to stay active.

Treatments: For minor aches, icing the shoulder and taking an over-the-counter pain reliever might be enough to ease the pain. Until the inflammation or bruising heals, Laskowski recommends avoiding lifting, pulling and overhead activities that will exacerbate the pain or cause additional damage to the rotator cuff. If the pain persists, your doctor may recommend a cortisone injection and physical therapy.
Michael Slater’s greatest test Type 2 Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen can help ease pain and inflammation from the injury. Check with your doctor before using them, though, if you take any other medicines or have medical problems.

Mexican can be good too if you get a burrito with no carbs beyond the tortilla, or a plate of meat and beans with vegetables. Any place that offers low-carb wraps is good too.
