Kennedy CollinsBlockedUnblockFollowFollowing When Smashing Magazine asked me to write an article sharing my thoughts on pricing my services, I agreed without much thought. But now I sit down to write it, and I’m faced with a conundrum. Do I write about how you should price projects or do I tell you the truth about the unorthodox approach I take?
Repetitive strain injuries like plantar fasciitis and iliotibial band syndrome (runner’s knee) are often seen as a price that active people pay for being weak in some way. Although this has always been a popular view, it’s been given new life since the early 2000s by a lot of hype about hip weakness specifically, which supposedly causes runner’s knee (and maybe other overuse injuries in the lower body). If it’s true, then surely strength training the hips can prevent runner’s knee? Unfortunately, this is just a pet theory that got out of hand, and still isn’t supported by any credible evidence.21

"Most of this shoulder pain will improve with a simple approach," says Ames, who is an active member of the USSA (United States Ski and Snowboard Association) Physician Pool for the U.S. Ski Team, and serves as a Team Physician for Dartmouth Men's Soccer and Men's Lacrosse. "Try to warm up before exercising. Build up to things if you've been away from a sport for a while. If it's your first cross-country ski of the season, consider going for 20 to 30 minutes, instead of starting with the 90 minutes that you had built up to at the end of last season."
That makes a lot of sense if you think about it. It encourages more of the kind of work you want to be known for and that you love. It might seem unfair, but if the client doesn’t want to pay your premium to do a tedious project, he can always go elsewhere.
Washington When jumping, focus on landing softly, which means rolling toe-ball-heel down your foot as you land from jumping. Also, your knees should remain slightly bent throughout the exercise. Studies have shown that when athletes land softly from a jump, more of the forces are absorbed in the ankle musculature, which decreases the peak ground reaction force that occurs in the knee.

Although tendinitis can be caused by a sudden injury, the condition is much more likely to stem from the repetition of a particular movement over time. Most people develop tendinitis because their jobs or hobbies involve repetitive motions, which put stress on the tendons.
